Thanks for Joining Us on Rounds!
Stop the Bleed training with community partners
As a busy clinician, educator, and researcher, I know how difficult it can be to stay current with the ever-changing landscape of healthcare.
TRAUMA ICU ROUNDS is dedicated to you - our listeners.
Our MISSION is to provide you with concise, clinically relevant, and up-to-date information on topics that span the spectrum of critical care, emergency general surgery, and, of course, trauma surgery.
A Little Bit About Me
Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, I attended medical school at McMaster University. Following my general surgery residency, I completed a critical care medicine fellowship at the University of Ottawa. In 2010, my family & I moved to So Cal, where I completed a fellowship in trauma & surgical critical care at UC San Diego. My passion for surgical education led me to complete a Masters in Medical Education at the University of Dundee. I worked as a trauma & acute care surgeon at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA, from 2012 thru 2021. Currently, I am the Trauma Medical Director for Trauma Services on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, where I continue to practice critical care medicine, as well as trauma & acute care surgery.
2018 DGSOM at UCLA Excellence in Education Award.

Wearing Multiple Hats
Education. Clinical care. Research. Administration. These are 4 of the key pillars of academic surgery.
In addition to serving as the Medical Director of the TSICU at Harbor-UCLA, I Co-Chair the the Surgery Clerkship at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where I also serve as the Co-Chair of the College of Applied Anatomy. Regionally, I’m a Vice-Chair for the So Cal American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS COT). Nationally, I serve on several committees for organizations such as the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST), Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST), and the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM).
Life Outside of Work
Work hard. Play hard. It’s not always easy to maintain balance. But when I’m not at work I treasure spending time with my family. Whether at home, on the trails, or at the beach, the de Rosenroll-Kim clan are always looking for new adventures.
